What is Zapier?
When something happens in one app, make something happen in another — a form submission becomes a CRM record, an invoice becomes a Slack message. Now with AI steps that can categorise or summarise in the middle of the chain. The most-integrated automation tool there is, and the most expensive per task.
The highest-value automation in most small businesses is the dullest one: getting an enquiry from the website into whatever system the follow-up happens in, without a person copying it. That single link is usually worth more than everything else you build.
Set up failure alerts on day one. An automation that quietly stopped three weeks ago is worse than never having had it, because everyone has stopped checking the manual route.
What does Zapier cost in the UK?
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 100 tasks a month, two-step workflows only. |
| Professional | $29.99/month ($19.99 billed annually) | 750 tasks. Multi-step workflows, premium apps, webhooks. |
| Professional (5,000 tasks) | $133.50/month ($89 billed annually) | Same features, higher task ceiling. |
| Team | $103.50/month ($69 billed annually) | 2,000 tasks, 25 users, shared connections, SAML SSO. |
What the free tier actually gets you
Free plan gives 100 tasks a month and two-step workflows. Enough to prove one automation works before paying for it.
What to watch on the price
Professional starts at $29.99 a month billed monthly for 750 tasks, or $19.99 billed annually — the page states annual is 33% off. Cost rises with task volume, not features. Priced in US dollars. Read 29 August 2026. An earlier automated read recorded $33.33, which matched no plan.
Does Zapier train AI models on your data?
Vendor does not publish it
Read Zapier's Data Privacy Overview on 30 August 2026. It covers GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA, and confirms certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework including the UK Extension, but it does not state whether customer data is used to train models. An automation tool sees data from every system it connects, so this is worth getting in writing before you connect anything sensitive.

Where does Zapier fall short?

- Cheaper alternatives do the same job if you can tolerate a less polished builder
- Silent failures: a broken Zap stops working without telling anyone unless you set up alerts
Who is Zapier for?
A good fit for
- Any business using more than three SaaS tools
- Agencies
- Ecommerce
Not for
- High-volume automation, where the per-task pricing makes Make several times cheaper for the same work
- Anyone who will not set up failure alerts — a broken Zap stops silently
The Torus verdict on Zapier
Start on the free tier and prove one automation earns its keep. The task-based pricing is the thing to model before upgrading, because it scales with success rather than with headcount.
What are the alternatives to Zapier?
Others in automation, with what each one is for.
